A weekly update on what I'm building at over-stimulated.

I've been inspired by Ayush from Hex and his studio update series. A running log of what he's been working on. It's raw, to the point, and a nice way to keep yourself accountable but also share what you're working on.

This is my version where I sit down on a Monday and share what I'm building at over-stimulated (my independent development practice).

On to this week update pals:

Internal projects:

  1. over-stimulated branding / site design — Working with Lovish from otherdays this week to finalise designs for the upcoming rebrand of the development practice. At launch we're going to have 4 pages: landing, case study, info, and the automated quote form. We're pretty close on all desktop pages so the focus this week will likely be mobile. There's no real rush here because this project was a skill trade. Meaning I built his new site and in exchange he is designing mine. We both agreed to fit it around our other priorities. I'll also be jamming on some motion ideas in my down time. Want to keep this one super sleek and blend that technical feel with a more human approach. Will share explorations on twitter.

  2. Automated quoting system — As part of the rebrand, I'm building automated quoting system for client projects. A tool that potential clients can use to get a ball park price, instantly. I've built the initial stages of the flow for it. This includes:

    1. Capturing and checking emails for new referral partners.

    2. Adding those partners to a notion databse.

    3. Adding the quote to a notion database.

    4. Storing the referral partners details inside of beehiiv. The goal is to build an email list of agency owners, marketing team members, and independent designers for upcoming tools I'd like to build in 2025.

  3. Content — Last week I started posting heavily on twitter again. This felt good to get back into the swing of things and start seeing results. One potential lead reached out for next year. It's important to not get wrapped around the metrics that don't matter (likes, followers etc). The focus here is trust and new relationships.

Client projects:

I've got three client projects that are currently in development:

  1. AI company site build ( can't share too much on this one ) — Pending design changes. Likely to get started again this week.

  2. Design agency site build — Pending design changes. Again, likely to kick back off this week. Collabing quite hard on the motion design and interactivity for this build. Excited to share more.

  3. Credit union site build — This project is in full swing. Although the industry isn't that exciting, this has been a fun one to work one. It's super technical as the site is completely modular. We've built around 18 components the client can use to build internal pages. I'm also handling a lot of the motion design on this project which has given a nice balance between creativity and technicality.

Goals for this week:

Internal:

  1. Finish the backend logic for the automated quoting system. What needs to happen:

    • Build email logic that handles sending the quote to the submitter.

    • Set up some test logic that handles pricing calculation.

    • Set up segmentation inside of beehiiv.

  2. Support Lovish with anything he needs to progress the new over-stimulated design.

  3. Post Monday through Friday on twitter to continue to build the habit.

Clients:

  1. Credit union site build — Finish the static build for all components and pages. I'd like to get into Sanity and tidy everything up so the partner design studio can start running some QA.

  2. Other 2 clients are heavily dependent on the status of the design changes. If they're ready, I'll jump back into both these projects.

See you next week friends.
